breathes there a man...

Breathes there the man, with soul so dead,
Who never to himself hath said,
This is my own, my native land!
Whose heart hath ne'er within him burn'd,
As home his footsteps he hath turn'd,
From wandering on a foreign strand!
If such there breathe, go, mark him well;
For him no Minstrel raptures swell;
High though his titles, proud his name,
Boundless his wealth as wish can claim;
Despite those titles, power, and pelf,
The wretch, concentred all in self,
Living, shall forfeit fair renown,
And, doubly dying, shall go down
To the vile dust, from whence he sprung,
Unwept, unhonor'd, and unsung.

The Lay of the Last Minstrel, Sixth Canto
-- Sir Walter Scott

Colio Dude...You sure find something which can prick if pondered upon. i wonder how vast is your literature collection!! Do you have a whole shelf dedicated to this.???!!!

Anyway another humble request. Can you change your template to another one ..one that can be visible in firefox as well, for people like me and i guess a lotta people,its safer to use firefox and your blog appears all magled in it. So dude do heed to our request.

No, actually I found this poem out only last week. A spin-off of this poem appeared on the cartoon strip "B.C." and I googled it.

Abt the template thing, I am thinking of changing too-- edi chesina prapancha shanti kosame! (actually, I was getting bored of it!)
