Fleeting Infinity

I am.

Oh look! He is, as well.

And one more...

And there is another one...

Hmm... well, let me look at each one of these...

This one looks like a leader. He is golden, very tall, and shiny. It appears he gets others' things done really well, has a rich stentorian voice, goes about with a royal majesty, floors women and impresses all wherever he goes. Money was never a problem. He will probably get married with a heavy fanfare and have a couple of kids and be a proper family man, with ever rising popularity.
I wish I had his qualities. How very very great He is really is!

And that one... hmm.. looks like a researcher. A rather dark hard lean one with a tough head. They tell me that he listens only to the stupidest one for reasons better left unknown. He has a high strung temper and he is always trying to think, analyse, reason, rationalise. He will probably finish his Masters and then go on earn a PhD in one of the most difficult topics known thereby solving age old mysteries.
I wish I had his qualities. How very very great He is really is!

Ah! the third one... looks a little eely, has a greenish tint, and slithering. They tell me he has a honey coated tongue and that he is a great listener. He is famed to say the right things to the right people at the right time. He always has a lot of friends who think they have impressed him and can kick him anytime they want to, but its generally the other way around. He will probably end up earning a lot of money and friends.
I wish I had his qualities. How very very great He is really is!

And what about me? I am a little bronwish, not too tall, and probably with some adhering qualities... Hmm! Must be artist, or at the worst an art lover. Some say that I have a brilliance often misunderstood because I dont follow social norms. some say I lack the tact to face the world. Some others hate me for knowing what I know, and not knowing what I dont know.

But you know what I actually think? I think I...
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just then, I familiar sound... drowning the voices of all the companions in an equalising vortex...

The toilet is flushed. And the companions, all of them, regardless of their prophetic destinies, are forced to ride the same subterranean current into the same dark oblivion that is ever eager to decimate their existence for ever.

The toilet is flushed. It is clean and spotless without any trace of the introspection conducted with authority by one of the most unwanted entities known. Yet, the toilet is waiting... for the next batch of emotions and egos and ambitions and aspirations that think they can exist infinitely.

There is supposedly a French expression called "l'esprit de escalier" or some such. It has no adequate English translation, but the literal meaning is "the spirit of the stairway"...and it refers to the wisdom that hits people only when they are climbing up or down stairs. If there is one other place where such wisdom is within grasp, it has to be the restroom...and as you showed so expertly, there's lots of time for "reflection" in there...Great post :D

Aah!

So you are not as inactive as the amount of your presence indicates... mere selective of when to be actve.

That was a totaly honest reflection of real people by the way.

Interesting post. I am only commenting on this post because of an incident i experienced. I live far away from home, and in a period of great stress and loneliness (all brought upon by my own self) I unkowingly and instinctively practiced mahamudra meditation - and in the end realised the very 'truth' that you seem to propound. However, I also found during this enlightened period, which was perfectly natural and without the interference of any substance, that the ultimate objective of all living beings was to realise a state of infinite rest (is the best way i can describe it). And very roughly in scientific terms - 'Newton's First Law of Motion' - which i think is about intertia, or the desire to continue to stay in a state of rest. It is quite astonishing the lengths people go to achieve this - wealth, fame, lust, dont you think?

Mr.Ramchander, I understand what you say. I had written in one of my previous posts that human beings crave for an everlasting blissful experience. Since it is hard to obtain, we crave for its cheaper substitutes, and end up denying the fact that there can be such a state of everlasting bliss.

Cheers for the comment. Good measure of fun and thought in your blog..to digress from your most recent post, personally follow the humorous side of your blog. You see I live in Scotland, but miss Hyderabad (might give a clue to how i stumbled on this blog in the first place). That bit on le nallakunta connection is stuff of genius. You see, i did live in nallakunta and it was amongst its magical bastis i developed a love and mastered the art of patang baazi. I also take full credit for demistifying the 'gandak' variety of manjha which was until then an overpriced and overrated manjha. In fact I took away the aura of the manjha and replaced it with a wind speed/'pench' angle equation which has seen even relatively cheap manjhas see the light of the day. On a more serious note, drop the mr. ref - and just out of curiosity - who is Maha??!!

Didnt know how old you were (you curiously chose to hide your blogger identity)... hence the 'Mr.' title.

Anyway, thanks for your generous comments on the Lingam yadav posts.

And your knowledge on the now-a-days fading art of patangs is enviable. I am sure some of my friends who lurk around here might have already noticed it.

And scotland! Must be a wonderful place! If its possible, do drop in a mail to me abt urself.

Maha is my soon-to-be begum...

Actually i am not that old - 31...but sounding old is a lot worse than even being old!! Scotland is no doubt interesting, but alas wasted on a philistine like myself! I am sure someone like you will find it interesting. Actually i dont have a blogger account..i think. I just used my hotmail login and password, which i believe works with some google accounts. Just plain good old laziness. I did guess maha was either, or soon going to be a begum - she looks quite smitten in a photo on the blog! Oh yes, patangs during sankranthi, i spent hours lurking and lobbying around adult kite fliers to grab tips, and event went as far as gulzar house apparently the mecca of manjhas. Do you have an orkut account? I will send you an email anyway with my details in it. Now off for some chai and osmania biscuits.
